About quoting
How our quotes work.
Yes. The site visit and the fixed-price quote cost you nothing and carry no obligation. We only charge for pre-construction work you specifically ask us to do beyond quoting, and only after agreeing it in writing.
Because it is the fastest way to be useful to you. If what you are describing costs twice what you have, the kind thing is to say so at the first visit rather than after you have paid an architect. It is not used to inflate the price — our pricing comes from measured quantities and trade rates, not from what we think you can afford.
That is fine and very common. We can give you a realistic budget range from a site visit and a conversation, which is usually what you need before committing to design fees. A fixed price needs documentation, so the firm quote comes once there is something to price.
Ninety days as standard. Beyond that we re-check trade prices and material costs — usually the number barely moves, but we would rather re-issue it than have you sign something we can no longer honour.
No, but we will happily read it with you. Nine times out of ten a cheaper quote is not cheaper — it is quoting less work, carrying thinner allowances, or leaving something out that will come back as a variation. If it genuinely is better value, we will tell you that too.
